Wedding Tip Tuesday – Wedding Party

For Wedding Tip Tuesday let’s chat about your wedding party size. Events this last year have had some of the largest groups of friends accompanying the wedding couple down the aisle. Having your bestie by your side on your big day is a MUST. Here are a few items to keep in mind before asking your squad.

1) Expenses – As you well know weddings are expensive. A Bridesmaid can easily spend upwards of $1200 by the time the event day arrives. Dress, shoes, hair, make-up, gifts… Give your friend the option to commit to the investment. If they say they can’t swing it don’t make them feel bad. There are other ways to keep them included in your special day. Very few brides have a Personal Attendant anymore. Please have one. Your Maid of Honor and your Wedding Planner will be busy with other tasks.

2) Time – being asked to be a part of your event is an honor – but that doesn’t mean your college friend has time to devote to being by your side every step of the way. Engagement parties, bachelor/bachelorette parties, shopping, fittings, travel, rehearsals etc. all in addition to the wedding day can require a lot of your friend’s time. If they are still in school, have a family, or starting a new career they may not be able to participate in every aspect you have planned. Be clear with your squad about what your expectations are and then let them choose to accept that Bridesmaid Proposal Box. In my many years of working with couples typically a friend will start ghosting you and not responding to requests to attend events because the time and expense has become too much for them.
